The Paris Review, America’s preeminent literary quarterly, launched the Paris Review Print Series in 1965 to encourage works in the print medium and raise funds for the magazine. In the decades since, over sixty artists have contributed signed and limited editions of original work. Early contributors include the likes of Ellsworth Kelly, Robert Indiana, and Andy Warhol. This year’s contributors are Elizabeth Peyton, Shara Hughes, and Sam McKinniss. All proceeds from print sales benefit the Paris Review Foundation, a 501(c)(3).

“We are pleased to present a selection of both vintage and contemporary prints from the Paris Review Print Series, offering a glimpse into the stylistic breadth and historical legacy of our program. Visitors may notice correspondence between works of different eras. Hidden within Julie Mehretu’s 2021 contribution is a nude figure in the style of Willem de Kooning, whose own 1979 contribution to the series is on display. Works by Shara Hughes (2023) and April Gornik (1996) share a common serenity. Prints by Elizabeth Peyton (2023), Sam McKinniss (2023), and Alex Katz (1991) each showcase a different approach to portraiture.
